What to do in the first ten minutes
Turn it off and leave it off. Do not press the power button to check, do not plug it in. Power moving through a wet board causes most of the permanent damage. Take the case and SIM tray out, keep the phone upright, and get it to us fast.
Rice does not work, and it costs you time
Rice absorbs a little ambient moisture but does nothing about water already on the board or the corrosion that begins immediately. Bring it in wet — that is genuinely better than waiting.
Why we assess before we quote
Two phones dropped in the same pool can need completely different work. We open it, clean the board, and tell you what we find before doing anything. Sometimes the honest answer is that it is not worth repairing, and we will say so.
Water resistance is not waterproofing
An IP68 rating comes from a factory test in still, clean, fresh water — it says nothing about chlorinated pool water, salt water, or a phone whose seals have aged. Plenty of the water damage we see is on phones the owner reasonably believed were waterproof.
